This is a visual poem exercise that was completed in class. I used a combination of my own photography and images found online to create two different poems that focus on entrapment and the burdensome state of modern day living.
"Man-made mould" focuses on the coldness of a working class world that has been infested with the progress of industrialism. Much of it highlights the grimy and desolate environment that people are forced to thrive in, or suffer the repercussions.
"Flight" follows a similar pattern, making the connection of an individual being trapped in their home to that of an insect trapped in a box, unable to travel. The poem aims to promote the idea of freedom and travel, claiming that we are born to wander and explore, much like how an insect is born to fly.
